Here’s the truth: therapists make incredible marketers.
You already sit with people in their most vulnerable moments. You understand their fears, desires, and dreams. You’re naming what someone feels and showing them a path forward.
That’s marketing at its CORE!
But where do we get stuck? The language. Clinical terms work for notes, but not so much for Instagram.
I want to help you shift this so you still feel confident in your messaging AND are connecting with your dream clients!
In today's episode, I'm talking about how to stop talking like a therapist so your marketing actually converts.
I understand it might feel more familiar and professional to use clinical terms. Unfortunately, clients don't feel seen, validated, or connected to that language.
Clients don't Google "increase emotional attunement." They search "we keep having the same fight" or "I don't feel like myself anymore."
Client-forward language helps people see themselves in your words. It's you taking off the authority hat and talking like a human (clear, warm, and REAL).
An example of this shift: "I help clients address unresolved trauma through a somatic and attachment lens" becomes "I help millennial women who've been through hard things reclaim their joy."
How do you get there? Reflective listening, just like you do in sessions.
Pay close attention to the exact words clients use on intro calls and in early sessions. Then start building your content, bios, and website around that!
This is the work we refine inside PPA, and it's the fastest way to make your marketing convert (without being everywhere).
Regardless of your specific niche, you can adjust your messaging so people resonate and know YOU'RE the one to help them when they're ready!
In this episode, How to Stop Talking Like a Therapist So Your Marketing Actually Converts, I cover:
What client-forward (aka client-facing) language actually means
Why shifting away from clinical language can feel uncomfortable for therapists
How to tell if your clients really know or use the clinical terms you’re sharing
Real examples of turning therapist jargon into relatable, client-centered messaging
