One of the biggest myths in the online business space? You need to have a huge audience to create meaningful income and impact.
But today’s guest, Carolyn, is proof that simply is NOT true!
Dr. Carolyn Solo, PhD, LCSW, is an EMDR consultant and EMDR intensive therapist living and practicing in person in Stowe, Vermont, and virtually throughout Pennsylvania. She is also a coach for EMDR therapists who want to launch intensives in their own practices.
She is passionate about helping EMDR therapists create intensive practices that provide them with time and financial freedom and reduce their risk of burnout, while also offering clients transformational clinical outcomes. She is also a mom of 3 girls, ages 4, 7, and 9.
Carolyn has built an incredibly successful second business, helping therapists launch EMDR intensives. I had the pleasure of being her 1-1 business coach as she made this transition and scaled beyond clinical therapy!
And no, she didn’t have thousands of followers on Instagram either. She’s had a very small and highly niche audience!
In today’s episode, we’re talking about scaling beyond 1-1 therapy with a small Instagram audience.
At the time of this recording, she has about 1,500 Instagram followers, 600 email subscribers, and around 200 weekly podcast listeners.
Yet she’s run multiple cohorts of her EMDR intensive program and worked with many 1-1 clients. She’s secured a podcast sponsor AND generated over $50k from one offer alone.
The reason? Clear positioning, deep expertise, AND a commitment to truly helping therapists get results!
Carolyn’s journey into EMDR intensives started during a challenging season of life. Running a full private practice with the traditional 20+ clients just no longer made sense.
EMDR intensives offered a new path for Carolyn. She was able to help clients make meaningful progress in a shorter amount of time. She was also creating more space and flexibility in her OWN life!
Over time, she refined her model to a 15-hour intensive over three days. Now? She charges $6k for that work!
Carolyn’s business is a beautiful reminder that success online isn’t about chasing massive follower counts. It’s not about jumping on every new marketing trend.
It’s about clarity, consistency, and deeply serving a very specific audience.
Scaling beyond 1-1 therapy with a small Instagram audience is TOTALLY doable. You’ve just got to stay focused on delivering real results and showing up authentically for your community!
