One of the things I consistently share on Instagram is my monthly income report. I try to do this with complete transparency, because I believe it’s super important for other therapists to see what’s possible!

My income from 1-1 therapy clients isn’t as high as it used to be. In fact...it’s pretty low, which has led people to ask me WHY that is.

Well...that’s because I made the tough decision to see less therapy clients.

You may be thinking ‘why the heck would you do that?!”, or questioning if it’s possible for YOU to make 6 figures seeing 1-1 therapy clients.

Maybe you’re just curious and want to know more (tbh - I would be too)!

I knew I wanted to dedicate an entire episode to this topic and talk more in depth about WHY I decided to see less therapy clients. Quite a bit has changed for me along the way, so let’s get into it!

In today’s episode, I’m talking about my tough decision to see less therapy clients. First of all...it’s totally possible to make a very good living seeing ONLY 1-1 therapy clients if that’s what you desire!

In my first year of doing private practice, I was charging $250/session and averaging more than $16k/month. I felt like I had a pretty great work-life balance - no burnout happening here!

But...I started seeing some AWESOME growth on Instagram!

I hit 10k followers in September 2021, and therapists were asking me how I did it. I also began offering 1-1 business coaching, launched PPA, and even acquired brand deals.

I had multiple income streams coming in, and I was trying new things. My total income continued increasing, which was SO cool to see!!

On top of all of this, I was still seeing 17-23 clients each week.

I loved 1-1 therapy, but it started to feel like I had waaaay too much on my plate (because I did).

When I got really honest with myself, I realized 1-1 therapy wasn’t what I was most aligned with in this season of life. I had to make some changes, and seeing less therapy clients is what made sense for me!

I wanted freedom and choice in my business. I wanted to scale it sustainably, and feel more EASE in what I was doing.

If you want to build your business as a 1-1 therapist, you absolutely CAN. At the end of the day, you have to give yourself permission to do what YOU want to do. It is your business, so don’t be afraid to go after your goal(s), audaciously!

In this episode, My Tough Decision to See Less Therapy Clients, I cover:

  • My first year in private practice with ONLY 1-1 therapy clients

  • What happened when my Instagram really took off

  • My major business growth in 2022 + what needed to change in 2023

  • Why I intentionally chose to see less 1-1 therapy clients in 2023 and what this looked like

  • Why you MUST give yourself permission to do what’s best for you and your business
