I’m taking you behind the scenes of something I’ve never really shared before: how I manage my personal finances.
Sharing my business income and expenses openly is something I’ve been doing for YEARS.
But talking about what happens with that money after I pay myself? That feels a little more vulnerable!
I’m excited to break down exactly what works for me and my family as someone with a seven-figure business.
In today’s episode, I’m taking you BTS of how I manage my personal finances.
My financial systems are designed around three things: reducing decision fatigue, setting myself up to be work “optional”, and actually feeling good about the money I’ve worked hard to earn.
Over the last three years, our household’s average adjusted gross income (AGI) has been around $625,000. Instead of making dozens of financial decisions every month, I’ve worked to automate as much as possible!
Yes, I pay myself from my business, contribute to retirement, and use high-yield savings accounts.
I’ve also prepared for maternity leave and other large expenses. I give to charity regularly, invest, and am working toward paying our mortgage off in 10 years.
My husband and I even have a monthly money date. We look at our accounts, track our progress, and make financial decisions together.
It’s something we’ve been doing for years, and it has been incredibly helpful for our family!
And no, your numbers don’t have to look anything like mine for these conversations to matter.
Whether you’re saving $10 a week OR managing a growing business, knowing your numbers gives you the ability to make intentional decisions about where you want to go next.
Start paying attention NOW. Track your progress, and know what you’re working toward.
The more you understand your money, the more choice you have in building a business (and life) that truly supports your goals, friend!!
